Checked September 6, 2026: GORUCK's product page lists the M26 preorder as closed. All six variants are unavailable. Shipping targets Q4 2026, with Q1 2027 possible; neither is a guaranteed delivery date. Limited safety stock is planned, but a restock is not assured.
This is a source-based guide to the announced pack, not a hands-on review. For readers choosing a rucking pack now, availability and secure weight carry matter more than preorder excitement.
What GORUCK has announced

GORUCK says it developed the M26 from the M23 with community feedback.
The announced design includes a rain-flapped lid pocket, two side pockets whose volume sits inside the pack, extended main-compartment zipper access, and YKK zippers without AquaGuard. Both sizes have laptop compartments described as fitting a 16-inch MacBook.
Sizes and materials
| Announced option | Sizes |
|---|---|
| 500D CORDURA, Ranger Green/Black or Black | 21L and 26L |
| Heritage waxed canvas, Dark Oak/Coyote Brown | 21L and 26L |
These are the announced choices in the closed preorder. ROBIC nylon appears in the interior; it is not the advertised exterior fabric.
What remains unverified
The listing does not establish a reliable finished-pack weight or dedicated plate compatibility. Do not infer secure plate retention from laptop fit. Before choosing any pack for weighted training, check the manufacturer's instructions for the specific plate and retention system you intend to use.
Published capacity alone also cannot settle fit. Think about your torso, everyday load, access needs, and whether you will carry a laptop alongside training weight. Those are separate decisions from choosing a color or exterior fabric.
Treat the images and shipping window carefully
GORUCK labels concept imagery as non-final. The illustrations on this article are editorial images, not evidence of finished-product construction or our use of the pack.
For an existing order, follow the seller's order updates and the terms supplied at purchase. A target quarter is useful for planning, but it is not a promise that the pack will arrive before a trip or event. Ask GORUCK directly about cancellation options for your order.
The preorder is closed - alternatives to compare

Choose an alternative by the job you need it to do. A training pack and an everyday organizer need not solve the same problem. Our existing comparison of Mystery Ranch and other packs can help frame that decision; 5.11 is another brand to compare.
| Your priority | Existing guide pick | What to check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Weighted training | GORUCK Rucker 5.0 | Plate fit, retention and pack fit |
| Tactical organization | 5.11 RUSH 24 | Pocket layout, empty weight and loaded comfort |
| Adjustable fit and organization | Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault | Harness sizing and access with your normal load |
Compare each pack against the features you need, and check current stock, size and delivery estimates at the retailer. Our Rucker 5.0 comparison, RUSH 24 2.0 listing, and Mystery Ranch's 2-Day Assault comparison provide starting points.
Decide around your next use
If you need a pack for a scheduled trip or a rucking community outing, choose around confirmed availability and your actual load. If your current pack works, a closed preorder is not a reason to replace it.
Use your normal packing list and fit requirements to make that comparison. We cannot establish which size fits you from capacity labels alone, and this article does not claim hands-on fit testing.
That requires evidence of plate fit, retention and loaded comfort. A laptop compartment by itself does not answer those questions. Check those details before treating any everyday pack as a training replacement.
Only if you need one. Compare available packs against the job your current setup cannot handle; avoid buying an interim pack solely because a preorder has a long wait.
