Rucks
The pack itself. Everything else fits around this - get it right and you'll be set for years.
Plates & Weight
A dense metal plate that gives your ruck its load. Goes inside the pack. Not every plate fits every pack - we'll flag bad matches on this tab.
Weighted Vest
Integrated-weight vests with sewn-in pockets or removable bricks. Wear the load on your chest instead of your back.
Plate Carrier
A shell that holds a ruck plate against your chest and back. Needs a plate sold separately. Heavier and more tactical than a weighted vest; preferred at GORUCK events.
Shoes
Cushioned, a half-size up. Rucking swells your feet by mile three - don't ignore the extra room.
Insoles
The upgrade most ruckers skip. Swap your shoes' flat foam liner for something that supports your arch and saves your knees.
Socks
Merino wool. Doesn't stink, doesn't blister, dries fast.
Hydration
A water bladder (the bag with a drinking tube) works if your pack has an opening for the tube. Otherwise use a bottle.
GPS Watch
Tracks pace, distance, elevation, and effort. Not required - a lot of ruckers love them, a lot of ruckers don't bother.
Headlamp
For pre-dawn starts and after-work rucks that finish in the dark.
Trekking Poles
The hack no-one tells you about. Two sticks that take pressure off your knees on descents.
Foot Care
Blisters end rucks early. Tape, balm, and patches that keep your feet intact past mile ten.
Reflective Safety
For dawn, dusk, and after-dark rucks. A reflective belt is required at every GORUCK event - show up without one and you don't start.
Water Bottles
The fallback when your pack doesn't take a bladder. Insulated for summer, collapsible for long rucks.
Nutrition & Electrolytes
Electrolytes, gels, and chews. For anything longer than an hour you'll want salt in your bottle and carbs in your pocket.
First Aid
Waterproof kits for the ruck, trauma coverage for the serious stuff. Event-required gear and general safety.
Apparel
Merino tees, synthetic bottoms, rain shells, and the Wrangler ATG pant that rucks better than anything three times its price.
Recovery
Foam rollers, massage guns, OOFOS, electrolytes, and the magnesium supplement that helps tight calves relax overnight.
